Aldi - we will work with Design Panel
ALDI have announced that they will work with the council’s Design Review Panel, after their proposals for a new shop on Ellon’s Ythan Terrace were deferred last week.
Members on Formartine Area Committee deferred the plans for review, on the grounds that members wanted to see improvements to the design of the proposed building.
Graham Nicolson, Property Director for Aldi in Scotland, said: “We welcome the opportunity to discuss our store design with the Design Review Panel. Had we been asked by the planning officers to discuss our proposals with the Panel prior to lodging the application, which we would have welcomed, this would have allowed the proposed design to be considered at the public consultations which we ran in October. The feedback has shown support from the people of Ellon, the community council, the town traders and neighbours.
“Nevertheless, we wish to progress without further delay by attending the Design Review Panel when it sits in March and have the opportunity to discuss the considerations that have influenced the current store proposal and its design, which we still feel is appropriate. We will work with the Panel in a bid to have our proposals considered further by the Area Committee when it sits in April.”
