Firefighters donate thousands
LOCAL charities in the Ellon area have benefitted from significant cash injections, after Ellon’s firefighters donated £13,000 worth of fundraising proceeds.
Representatives of the charities were presented the cheques by Fire Station representatives, including Ellon Watch Manager Ron Beedie, Honorary Fire Master Sir Peter Graham, Chief Fire Officer Daniel Dalziel and Area Manager David Rout.
Speaking afterwards, Mr Beedie told the Times: “Last year was an exceptional year for us,” he said. “The total raised was approximately £14,000 from our Blue Light Fun Day, Ryder Cup Golf Competition, BBQs, car washes and Christmas Door-to-door collection.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all firefighters and their families for all their hard work and to the public for their continued support and donations.”
Among those benefitting were The Gordon Highlanders Museum (£250); The Maggies Appeal (£500); North-East Fire Heritage (£300); Ellon RBL Pipe Band (£400); The Ellon Boys Brigade (£400); Pitmedden First Responders (£300); SANDS (£300); Ellon Help Committee (£300); Newburgh Gala Committee (£300); Rainbow Rogues (£200); Methlick Scouts (£150); Brentfield Nursery (£200); Gordon Park Nursery (£200); and GFRS Care Bears (£100).
