Funding boost for Collieston harbour
Collieston Community Council has received a significant boost, after local Aberdeenshire Councillors agreed to make a contribution towards critical repairs in the harbour.
Councillors agreed to meet the request for a contribution of £2,500 from the Formartine Area top-up budget towards the overall estimated cost of £20,000 for the repairs needed.
Funding for the use and upkeep of the harbour comes from voluntary donations from the public.
Each year, work needs to be undertaken on the harbour as part of a longer term maintenance and improvement programme to maintain the harbour’s integrity, which is estimated to cost in the region of half a million pounds.
The community owned harbour is a popular and well used local attraction, owned by the community and managed by volunteers under the Community Council.
