Local members welcome Victoria Hall funding

LOCAL councillors have broadly welcomed the decision at Tuesday’s Formartine Area Committee to approve £2500 worth of improvements at the Victoria Hall in Ellon.

The council will contribute £2500 from the area’s Top-up Budget to what is expected to be a £4500 refurbishment of the building’s foyer, which will include repainting and re-flooring the foyer and internal staircase to make the entrance more inviting.

Cllr Gillian Owen, who is a trustee at the Hall, told the Times it was a good decision.

“As chairman of the trustees, I fully welcome this decision. I recently did wedding photos at the entrance of the hall, and the bride was resplendent - the only thing that was a let down was the entrance, which seemed a bit grotty.

“I’m absolutely delighted the money has been allocated to improve this.”
