Trump plans for new course

TRUMP International have submitted their formal planning application for a second Golf Course at Menie.

The proposals come seven months after the official opening of the main course at the estate, with the second course - to be named in honour of Donald Trump’s mother -sited to the south of the completed one.

In a press release, Trump International confirmed that the ‘Mary McLeod Course’ would occupy several hundred acres, and that Dr Martin Hawtree would once again be employed to design the course in question.

The indicative plans submitted to the council illustrate the extent of the eighteen-hole second course which, it is hoped, will compliment the existing one.

Sarah Malone, Executive Vice President for Trump International stated: “Our plans for the second golf course are moving forward rapidly and we’re delighted to reveal the indicative layout. We are more committed than ever to creating the greatest golf destination in the world. Following the launch of our championship course last year, Aberdeenshire is now considered a must visit destination for golf. The addition of a second course will further strengthen this.”

Dr Martin Hawtree added: “I am excited at the opportunity of developing a second course for Mr Trump. At the centre there will be an outstanding Par 72 golf course, ranging between 7 and ½ thousand yards and 5 ½ thousand yards (so fit for all tastes and calibres) situated on land with an extraordinary richness of landscape and topography; but every inch a seaside links course. The special and subtle challenge for me is to ensure that it sits comfortably beside its majestic neighbour, neither outshone by the existing course nor making any attempt to mimic or rival those Leviathan qualities.”

Since opening, the extant Championship Golf Course has received a warm reception from the world’s golfers, claiming 10,000 have now played, coming from as far away as Asia and Latin America.
