Youth Philanthropy Initiative Finals wow panel of judges
Grampian Opportunities
The Inverurie Academy S3 YPI final held last week, attracted a good turnout of parents, pupils, friends and representatives of the various chosen charities.
Each of the six groups delivered an excellent presentation with varied content, all for the purpose of highlighting the work of local charities. The purpose of the evening was for groups of pupils to highlight the work of the charities in Inverurie and make a case as to why they were deserving of the £3000.
The panel of judges had the difficult task of picking a winner and after much deliberation picked the group representing Grampian Opportunities (GO). Their presentation involved a snakes and ladders board and drama to show the ups and downs of life.
The group was passionate about the charity and had gained an understanding of what they did, and the impact it had on the lives of individuals in the area. Linda Singer from GO commended the group for “the sensitive and realistic” way they represented the challenges faced by someone on a low income and affected by depression.
On the strength of the presentations, the panel of judges expressed a desire to explore the possibility of the school looking at ways to get more involved with the grass roots charities who didn’t win.
