A WELL-KNOWN husband and wife who conduct assemblies at local primary schools are set to move to pastures new.
Robert Lovell, and wife Ruth, have entertained children with their own brand of religious celebration for three decades. However, they have decided to move to Ireland, to continue their work in a new country.

Pupils at Tipperty presented the coupl
e with a Bible containing letters of appreciation, as well as a Shamrock paperweight.
Mr Lovell spoke to the Ellon Times on Friday about his work and memories.

"To cut quite a long story short, we have been taking assemblies in Primary Schools around the North East for the last 30 years," he said
"Our first ever assembly was in Pitfour School in Mintlaw. At that time, we went to five other primary schools in the area, but over the last 17 years the work has snowballed, with other schools hearing of us. We have had invitations into over 40 schools across Aberdeenshire, and two in Aberdeen city.

The Lovells' act includes songs and talks with the theme of good citizenship and Christianity, with entertainment by the puppet, Freddy.
"We have counted it an enormous privilege to have spent all these years working amongst so many boys and girls," said Mr Lovell. "Freddy joined the team 18 years ago and was an instant hit with the children.
"His contribution was very useful in re-emphasising the message throughout the assemblies."

"On our first visit to Tipperty School in January 2006, we were given such a warm welcome and have found the same every time we have visited.
"The children are always extremely enthusiastic with the singing and great listeners to the Bible stories.

"At our last assembly there, the children presented us with a box of lovely letters they had written of their memories of assemblies, all of which we shall treasure.

"It's great to know we shall always have a welcome at Tipperty School if we are back in the area, a sentiment echoed by many others."
