GRAMPIAN Police, Ellon are appealing for the owner of a wayward garden ornament found orphaned beside the River Ythan to retrieve it from custody.
It is understood the three foot high ornament has refused to answer questions in connection with its disappearance. A spokesman said the "less-than-forthcoming" animal is being treated with the dignity afforded other cellmates and was not "badgered" into any confession regarding its origin, although one former cellmate who spoke to the
Ellon Times on condition of anonymity described it as "a wee bittie droll with a hert o' stane." The stone statue is wearing
simulated clothes and pushing a small wheel barrow.

It was recovered from the Riverside Car Park in the town on Monday, May 12. Anyone wishing to be reunited with their badger should contact Grampian Police's non-emergency line on 0845 600 5700 and ask to speak to an officer at the Ellon station. Pictured with the badger is Special Constable Shona Dempster
