On Thursday, August 28 the Police were called to an incident on the A90 north of Balmedie where carriageway resurfacing works are in progress.
As motorists will know a contra-flow system in operation as a safe guard.
A road worker who was manning the stop/go boards was struck by a motorist who had pulled out of the line of waiting traffic. Thankfully only minor injury was sustained. The
re have been several reported incidents at the road works.
While it is appreciated that road works can cause frustration with drivers, maintenance work is essential and providing a safe environment in which to carry them out is paramount. Action will be taken against drivers who disregard road signs and directions given by authorised persons.
Over the last couple of weeks I have mentioned the crime series that has taken place in the area with several reported break-ins.
On Thursday, August 28 a man was arrested in connection with allegedly resetting property stolen from one of the break ins at Ellon and some of the items stolen were recovered.
On Monday, September 1 a man and woman appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court in connection with numerous crimes, including the break in at Ellon and one on the outskirts of Balmedie.
There have been no further break ins in the area in the last seven days however patrols will continue again in the coming weeks in an effort to deter such crimes. During the course of these additional patrols this week two men were stopped and found to be in possession of controlled drugs.
The usual variety of road traffic offences have been detected again this week including vehicles with no tax, no MOT, tachograph offences, no insurance, speeding and a driver reported for drinking and driving. Several allegations of careless driving have also been investigated following road traffic collisions on the A948 Ellon to New Deer Road, the B977 Belhelvie to Parkhill Road and the A90 on the outskirts of Ellon.
Several crimes of vandalism have also been reported this week including one on Main Street, Newburgh where a window was broken on Friday, August 29.
A positive line of enquiry is being followed.
A car was damaged at the Ellon Park and Ride on Sunday, August 31 and similarly a positive line of enquiry is being followed.
