Dufftown 0, Formartine United 5
DUFFTOWN kicked off the First Division game and came out of the traps in impressive mood.

In the second minute a cross from the right was missed by the United defence and Wiltshire was unlucky to see his shot strike the bar and go over.

In th
e fifth minute Shearer broke through but his shot was brilliantly tipped away by Fyfe. With seven minutes gone, B. Maitland played in a dangerous cross to his brother but McKinnon reacted quickly and intercepted. A shot from B. Maitland skimmed the crossbar as it went over.

Formartine took the lead with 15 minutes gone. A cross from Young was headed back across goal and McGuinnes was on hand to blast the ball into the net from ten yards.

In the 19th minute the woodwork again came to United's rescue. A corner from the right wasn't cleared and a shot from Shearer rebounded off the bar. Formartine were beginning to gain control and B. Maitland crossed for Vigours who struck a fierce shot which was inches wide. Then a shot from B. Maitland was held by McKinnon.

The Maitland brothers again linked up in the 27th minute with Bobby setting up Adam and his shot was tipped round the post by McKinnon.
United went two in front with 30 minutes on the clock, a free kick from Shinnie from 25 yards was missed by both forwards and defenders and ended in the corner of the net.

Dufftown were looking a spent side and went further behind in the 35th minute. B. Maitland played the ball across and it was deflected into his own goal by Younie. Five minutes later McKinnon made a fine save but spilled the ball to Goodwin who accepted the gift and fired into the unguarded net.

The game was over as a contest and Formartine were dominating proceedings. A free kick by Shinnie was saved by McKinnon at his post. Shearer broke clear in the 55th minute but his cross into the area wasn't met by anyone.

A strong run by B. Maitland left the Dufftown defence in his wake and he played a ball to Young who fired at goal but the goalkeeper made an easy save. Dufftown hadn't given up and a cross from McGregor was met by Ewan but his header went over. A shot from Yule was deflected for a corner. A cross from Burrows was met by Forsyth but his header was too high. A move between Cadger and Yule ended with the ball being deflected wide by McKinnon.

In the 81st minute Yule was unlucky, he lobbed the keeper and the ball came back off the crossbar.

Five minutes from the end Forsyth burst into the box and was felled by a defender and a penalty was awarded. YuleULE took the kick and drilled it into the corner of the goal.
