Newburgh junior winners

NEWBURGH-on-Ythan Golf Club hosted its annual Junior Open on Monday which attracted a large field of local players.


In near perfect conditions over the Newburgh championship links players from clubs including Ellon.

Peterhead and Fraserburgh made up a high quality field.
More than 27 players with handicaps of 15 and under were chasing the top scratch prizes.

Local players Dale Lawrence and Calvin Cheyne shot 67s and L.Mckenzie shot a 72 to win the 16-36 section.

Ellon and Fraserburgh players dominated the low handicap and scratch sections.

The 0-15 section winners are as follows: D.Ritchie (Fras) 67, S.Anderson (Ell) 70 and F.Thomson (Ell) 70.
The winner of the Sangs Open with an excellent score of 68 was Ellon's Matt McWilliam.

Matt was the last player out and his near flawless card included two 2s which helped propel him to the trophy.
The Scratch section is as follows: 1. M. McWilliam (Ell) 68, 2. M. Patterson (Ell) 72, 3. A.Wiseman (Fras) 73.
