THE WINNERS of the Ellon Times and DAWGS competition have been announced, with two lucky owners taking away a selection of pet-themed prizes.

Winners of the competition were Kera and Zak, judged by DAWGS volunteer Isobel Elrick.

Kera was adjudged winner in the competition’s ‘Cutest Canine’ category, while Zak took first in the competition’s ’Best Rescue Dog’ category.

Kera is described by her owners as enjoying nothing more than running along beaches and jumping on trampolines, while Zak received his accolade for rescuing another pooch who had become trapped in mud.

Isobel said: “They are all cute in their own way, and picking the winners was always going to be hard!”

Organiser Candace Boamah told the Times: “We were impressed by the number of entries we received, and judging the competition was very difficult. But in the end, the two winners most certainly deserve their accolade.”

The charity, which cares for abandoned canines in the north-east, relies entirely on donations and volunteers. To find out more about DAWGS, visit the charity’s website at http://www.dawgs.co.uk.
