Gordon Arts Photography Competition

A CALL has gone out to photographers in Aberdeenshire to exhibit their creative talents through the lens.

Gordon Forum For The Arts is celebrating ‘The Value of Age’ as part of the Scotland-wide Creative Ageing Festival, Luminate.

Luminate will be launched in October and will celebrate and profile people’s creative lives as they age.

The Inverurie festival will offer an exciting, high quality programme of arts events and activities with and for older people, as well as events that attract audiences and participants across the generations.

As part of the festival, Gordon Arts is calling on all photographers, whether hobbyist, serious amateur or professional to capture the value of age through the lens.

The competition was launched in Inverurie on Saturday, July 14, at the monthly Farmers’ Market and photographers can submit up to three images by no later than Wednesday, September 12.

It offers an opportunity for photographers of any age and all abilities to stimulate their creative juices and express their individual take on the older generation, the way older people occupy their time, the way they interact with other generations and their value in society as a whole.

The theme of the competition is open to interpretation.

Images may include individuals or groups of people and can be submitted in a variety of photographic styles including portraiture, photojournalism, reportage or fine art.

The organisers will display a random selection of early entries in local shop windows this month prior to judging, which will take place mid-September.

Winners will be announced online and at an event during the festival.

Details on how to enter can be found on the Gordon Arts website.
