Banff & Buchan MP Dr Eilidh Whiteford has praised youngsters at the 1st New Deer Boys Brigade, after making presentations at the group’s annual Parents’ Night on Friday, May 9.

Dr Whiteford inspected the parade as guest of honour, before making individual presentations to individual prize-winners who have earned awards over the year.

Speaking after the event, Dr Whiteford said: “It was an absolute pleasure to meet with a group of diligent, disciplined youngsters and to learn about their activities over the course of the year.

“The 1st New Deer is a great example of the valued work the Boys Brigade does in communities up and down the country, and the group’s activities would not be possible without Captain Alistair Brodie, and the other volunteers who make these activities possible.”

Ben Mellin received the Presidents Badge and is now working towards gaining the highest award the Queen’s Badge along with Alexander Robbie.

The whole Company has 50 plus boys from Anchors through to Seniors at Company level.
