Railway Museum open weekend

Maud Railway Museum will hold its open weekend on Saturday and Sunday, October 9-10, with the museum’s own unique collection of railway artefacts on display.

A member of the Friends of Maud Museum, Des Byrne, will be displaying some of his railway models, based on trains which used to work in North East Scotland.

This year marks the 150th anniversary of the Formartine and Buchan Railway opening, which allowed Aberdonians to easily reach Peterhead for the first time. The weekend also marks the 32nd anniversary of the closure of the line to goods traffic with the last train running on Friday 5 October 1979.
