An Ellon care home garden has been given a new look - thanks to local volunteers.
A team from the Rotary Club of Ellon spent Saturday, September 14, at Ythanvale Care Home, working throughout the day to improve the garden and garden furniture.
Chairs and benches were scrubbed, sanded, and painted with wood preservative, so that they matched each other, and will prove weather resistant.
Flower beds were weeded, undergrowth cut back, shrubs trimmed, and roses clipped.
An access ramp was scrubbed and repainted with a non-slip surface.
The result was a major improvement to the appearance and safety of the garden, and residents will now be more likely to sit on the refurbished furniture.
Organisers said the day involved some hard work, but the banter was good and the team had an enjoyable day.
However, more work needs to be done and another visit to Ythanvale is being planned by the Rotarians.
One member said: “This demonstrates a point made at one of the club’s recent weekly meetings – that being a Rotarian is ‘nae jist aboot pitting yer han’ in yer pooch’. We get our hands dirty too!”
