The Auld Golfers of Inverurie Travelling Society (affectionately known as the “Auld GITS”) are a society formed to arrange golf fixtures and trips at home and abroad throughout the year and have had a range of interesting golf excursions since they were formed in 2012.

While fostering the interest of their members they also hold some fundraising events and after a very successful Whisky Tasting in 2014, they arranged a similar event a fortnight ago with the aid of Oldmeldrum’s Glen Garioch distillery.

The proceeds of the event will be used to purchase a special trailer which will be used for all sections of the club but especially for the youth section travelling to away matches to transport all their golf bags, golf carts etc. The trailer will have ongoing sponsorship by Alpha Taxis and the society intend to make it available for hire to other groups in the area.

Club Captain Ian Keith commended the members and said, “The Auld GITS are such an enthusiastic group and do a great deal to help the club in its aims to be outward looking and a welcoming club and I know the event was another great success.

“This latest venture will be a real boost, particularly for the youth golfers in Inverurie and we would like to thank the various sponsors including Glen Garioch Distillery, Alpha Taxis, Eddie Burnett, Iain Pirie, Mike and Meg Beaton and Brian Law.”
