A BELHELVIE couple who met through a local cycle club celebrated their Diamond Wedding anniversary last week.
George and Isobel Sinclair, of Cairntack Road, Belhelvie, were joined by Mid-Formartine Councillor Paul Johnston, who helped mark the occasion with a presentation to the couple on behalf of Aberdeenshire Council when he visited their home.
Flowers and a special presentation malt whisky were given to the couple, who had started their married life 60 years before in St Pauls church, Aberdeen.
The couple later enjoyed a family celebration in Aberdeen’s Northern Hotel, where they had been 60 years previously.
George and Isobel are well known to local Councillors. The couple have for many years helped to keep floral displays in their community and have served on local groups with George being a member of the Community Council since it’s beginning.
“It was a huge pleasure to be able to mark their Diamond wedding on behalf of the people of Aberdeenshire”, said Councillor Johnston. “It is privilege to meet couples like George and Isobel and I wish them many more happy years together.”
