Around the Aberdeenshire rurals

President Sue Hall welcomed members to the December meeting of Auchedly and Ythanbank SWI.

A considerable amount of business had to be discussed for forthcoming events.

Monthly prize-winners were as follows:

Lovely sandwiches, scones and cake for tea were provided by Lil, Sue and Dot.

Members and friends went to the pantomime in Inverurie, followed by a lovely Christmas meal at the Morris Hotel in Oldmeldrum.

President Ann Marston opened the December meeting of Kintore SWI.

After business, she introduced two first responders who gave a talk and showed slides on the work of trained volunteers.

They attend emergency calls received by the ambulance service and provide care until the ambulance arrives. Members were also given a demonstration on performing CPR, a first aid technique that can be used if someone is not breathing properly or if their heart has stopped. Chest compressions and rescue breaths keep blood and oxygen circulating in the body.

After tea, raffles and the vote of thanks the meeting closed.

The first meeting of the New Year is on January 5 and will be a members’ Taste and Try evening.
