The December meeting of Tipperty SWRI began with president Mrs Isobel Elrick welcoming members and guest for the evening, Kevin Reid from K & C Jewellers of Ellon.

After Isobel requested and approved the minutes and treasurer’s report Kevin, who has a interest in all kinds of antiques, spent the evening telling members about their treasures.

Some items were valuable, others had great sentimental value, and although no one had unknowingly brought a priceless antique everyone agreed it was nice to know the approximately date, origin and value of their items.

Kevin judged the competitions: Jam sponge - 1 Cathrine Simpson; 2 Marion Duncan; 3 Betty Cumming. Favourite antique - 1 Margaret Nicol; 2 Cathrine Simpson; 3 Betty Cumming.

Adelaide 0’Brien gave the vote of thanks before Isobel wished everyone a very happy Christmas and a prosperous 2015.

The first meeting of the New Year takes place on January 8 at 7.30pm. Guest speaker for the evening will be the HMP Grampian, Jim Farish. All welcome.
