THE ROTARY Club of Oldmeldrum had cause for celebration last week, as the club received a ‘Presidential Citation’ in recognition of the club’s all-round performance over 2010/11.
The award, which was presented to Past Club President Phil Duncan by Immediate Past District Governor George Berstan of the Turriff Club, recognises achievement across a range of categories. It is awarded by the President of Rotary International to clubs which have succeeded in meeting the targets in each ‘avenue of service’.
Categories for success include increasing club membership, promoting vocational service, engagement in community service and participating in international service.
Former President Phil Duncan accepted the award on behalf of the club, relating as it did to the period in which he had served as club President.
He expressed his satisfaction at the club being recognised in this way, before going on to express his thanks to club members for their efforts in securing the accolade.
“Although the certificate says this is a Presidential Citation, it’s not a citation for the Club President”, he said. “It’s recognition of the work put in by club members throughout the year, for which I’d like to offer each of you my thanks.”
