A local businesswoman and crafter has been shortlisted in the prestigious 2016 Elevator Awards.
Angela McLean-Boyle from Ellon is the owner of Myriad, and is up for the Entrepreneurial Supporter of the Year Award.
Set up just nine months ago, Myriad showcases the products and services of local crafters and small businesses on its shelves at prices that are affordable and reasonable, allowing clients to concentrate on growing and developing their own businesses.
Angela said: “Having been a crafter for many years, I appreciated the problems which crafters and small businesses faced when trying to sell and promote their products.
“Craft fairs and markets are often expensive for individuals, and the ‘little guy’ on the internet can find it extremely hard to be seen.
“As my family was getting older and I had more time on my hands, I started to think about a new approach and decided to set up and open Myriad. The shop is unique – both the clients and customers love the idea that it is supporting local crafters and small businesses, and we have successfully built up a customer following in the short amount of time we have been open.
“They thoroughly enjoy the diversity of products that come to the shop and the freshness that the rotation of clients brings.
“Being a crafter for many years, I appreciate the problems which makers face - we offer a space of your own at a price which is affordable, we provide staff to look after your customers so you can concentrate on your making, and you will be featured on our Facebook page.”
Angela regularly attends craft fairs and markets, meeting new people and offering them the opportunity to showcase their work in Myriad.
The Entrepreneurial Supporter of the Year award will celebrate those entrepreneurs, businessmen, businesswomen, inventors, innovators, professional advisers, bankers, lawyers, accountants and mentors who have provided outstanding and significant support to entrepreneurs in the last 12 months.
The awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, June 30.
