TWO Ythanvale residents had a special day out last weekend, after Aberdeen Football Club gave them free tickets to their game against Celtic.
Aberdeen fans Martin Campbell and Sandy Gray travelled to Pittodrie on Saturday with carers Kimberly Birnie and Elaine Farman to see the match, after Elaine made enquiries on the men’s behalf. The two life-long Aberdeen fans had expressed an interest in a day out to see a game.
The game kicked off at 12pm, and the Ellon pair had good seats to watch all the action. In the event, though, the Dons lost 2-0.
Sandy, who is in his eighties, told the Times before the match: “The last game I went to was when I would have been in my twenties. We’re really looking forward to it.”
