Big Country will play Inverurie on April 10.

Scottish rock legends Big Country will be appearing at the Thainstone Exchange, Inverurie all in aid of a good cause.

The concert has been organised by Brishay Boyd as part of a fundraising effort in aid of the charity The Brain Research Trust, which will see her tackle the London Marathon.

Brishay said: “The reason I am holding this event is because I am running the London Marathon this year to raise as much money as possible for The Brain Research Trust.

“This is a charity very close to our family, since 2008 when my step-dad, Dek, was diagnosed with Posterior Fossa Epidermoid Cholesteatoma, or in layman’s terms, a “Brain Tumour”.

“He has now undergone the first of possibly three operations, which has removed the affected area on the left hand side of his brain.

“Although the operation was a success it took two teams of medical experts and a grueling 18 hours to complete.

“Following this operation, he was tube fed for six months and had the enduring task of learning to walk, talk, eat and drink all over again.

“After four years of rehabilitation, which included physiotherapy, speech and language, strength and co-ordination and visual development he was in the position to return to his work part time in 2012.

“Because of charities such as Brain Research Trust and their invaluable work it helps to identify the causes, treatments and potential cures for these terrible, often fatal diseases.

“It may prevent people from developing these conditions in future or cure people of them and for that we are very grateful.”

The concert featuring Big Country will take place on Friday, April 10, at Thainstone Exchange, Inverurie. Doors open at 7pm and support act will begin at 8pm. There will also be games and a raffle.

Tickets cost £20 (cash only) or a VIP table for 10 is £300. Tickets are available from the Black Bull Inn, Inverurie, GPH Builders Merchants, Inverurie or by e-mailing bigcountrytickets@hotmail.co.uk.
