STAFF and pupils at Ellon Academy are getting set for their second ‘Evening of Entertainment’, with local businesses and groups invited to book tables in advance of the September-scheduled community event.
Last year’s evening raised thousands of pounds for the school, which went towards extra curricular activities for pupils and the purchase of learning materials. Organisers say that this year’s event will be bigger and better again, featuring performances from talented former pupils on stage at the Old Academy, and hot meals for the audience.
Music teacher Helen O’Brien told the Times that the organisers hoped for a good turn out to the event, which was well supported by the local community last year.
“Last year we had a fantastic turnout, and raised between £7,000 and £8,000 for the school,” she said. “We received a lot of support from local businesses, and we’ve had interest already from the community. Three out of the twenty tables have been booked even before we’ve got the event organised! So we are anticipating a good crowd.
“It’s great value for money - for £25, you get a fantastic evening of high-class entertainment, a drink on arrival and a hot meal. We’ve also obtained a temporary license so we can serve alcohol on the premises.”
