Discount retailer Aldi is now recruiting for its upcoming stores in Ellon and Inverurie.
As groundworks continue for the new outlets, Aldi this week revealed its growing investment in the North-east is creating more than 60 jobs.
The supermarket chain, named ‘Supermarket of the Year’ for two years running by consumer watchdog Which?, now employs more than 1,200 people across Scotland since opening its first store in Kilmarnock way back in October 1994.
Aldi will be opening new stores in both Inverurie and Ellon in the next few months, each creating at least 20 jobs within the local communities.
Store positions are also available in Aldi’s two existing stores in and around Aberdeen, at the Beach Boulevard Retail Park and in Westhill.
Aldi is looking for candidates who possess significant retail or people management experience to fill several store manager and assistant store manager positions.
Both are vital roles within Aldi’s stores, as individuals are given responsibility for the day-to-day running and performance of their store, and for managing a retail team of at least 20 employees.
In return, Aldi says it offers unrivalled responsibility and financial rewards of up to £56,500 per annum for store managers.
In addition, Aldi also requires more than 30 store assistants for its four stores in North East Scotland, which is a perfect role for those who possess excellent customer service skills and a passion to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key responsibilities for successful candidates include accurate and efficient till operation, and stock management and merchandising.
Full training will be provided over a 12 week period, and roles are available from 15 hours a week, with salaries starting at £7.95 per hour.
Jonathan Kenny, Aldi store operations director for the region, told the Times and Herald: “Aldi’s strong growth and expanding portfolio across this region has created an immediate requirement for additional store staff within our existing and forthcoming stores.
“Aldi has a track record of developing talent and rewarding high performing individuals. We’re looking to attract candidates from a wide range of backgrounds, including supermarket, fast-food and clothing chains, who can demonstrate relevant retail experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.”
