The Thainstone Spectacular show and sale of store cattle and weaned calves, sponsored Clydesdale Bank, has been moved to Friday, August 21.
The event date, which will for the first time be a Friday, has been changed due to consigner demand in order to coincide more closely with the end of the summer show season.
The change to a Friday has been made so that the show and sale will run alongside with the busy weekly sale of livestock held at Thainstone on Fridays, adding to the Spectacular itself.
As one of the leading show and sales in the Scottish agricultural calendar, the Spectacular provides the ideal opportunity for buyers from all over the UK to view the high standard of livestock exhibited in the North East. Previous animals bought out of the event have gone on to win championships such as the Countryside Live Show.
Last year’s Spectacular saw the top price of £3800 paid twice for a Limousin cross heifer by Haltcliffe Donny from Duncan and Grant Morrison, Newtack, Crossroads, Keith, to Blair Duffton, 2 Bogie Street, Huntly, and for another Limousin cross heifer by Proctors Cavalier from Balfour Baillie, Sebay Cottage, Tankerness, Orkney, to I S Sinclair, 3 Clyth Mains, Occumster, Lybster, Caithness.
