The organisation drawing up plans for Ellon’s Hogmanay celebrations has received another boost.

Ellon Events is continuing preparations and fundraising for the street party in the town centre.

Aberdeen FC this week donated an executive package for two people to attend a home match in the forthcoming season. The day out will be one of the top prizes up for grabs at the group’s inaugural summer raffle, which will kick off at the Ellon Gala this Sunday.

Ellon Events committee member Kevin Coghill said they were grateful for the donation, adding that Ellon and surrounding areas have historically been a bedrock of support for the club.

Ellon Gala will be the first opportunity for the public to pre-purchase Gig At The Brig 2013 tickets, as well as raffle tickets.

Formartine councillors last week agreed a £4000 contribution to the Hogmanay spectacular from their top-up budget.
