Gordon MP Sir Malcolm Bruce has welcomed confirmation that Flybe is to take over twice-daily flights to London City from Aberdeen.
British Airways recently announced that it would end its service between Aberdeen and London City in October.
The Liberal Democrat MP secured the Prime Minister’s support for the air link in the Commons earlier this month.
Sir Malcolm said: “This is most welcome news. I am particularly pleased to hear that the new service will start the day after the existing service ends, ensuring that the link between Aberdeen and London City is not disrupted.
“The Dyce-London City route has become a convenient one for business and leisure travellers in the north-east, offering a direct link from the UK’s energy capital into central London.
“I hope that those who support the current BA service will continue to use the new service, and that the flights will also attract new customers.
“I know the airport and other interested bodies have worked hard to secure an alternative operator for this route. I am glad to see that their dedication has been rewarded.”
