Plans have been announced
for a new location for Oldmeldrum Post Office with longer opening hours.

It is proposed to move the branch from The Square to Keystore in Market Square.

We are confident that this new modern post office service will meet the needs of the local community

The new office would have extended opening which would include Sunday.

Post Office officials will carry-out a six-week public consultation on the planned changes.

The new branch would offer Post Office products and services from an open-plan till at the retail counter throughout shop opening hours, instead of from a screened counter. Should the move go ahead, the branch would open from 6.30am to 9pm Monday to Saturday, and from 7am to 5pm on Sunday. This would be 51 hours a week more than at present.

Suzanne Richardson. Post Office regional manager said: “We understand how important having a post office is to residents in Oldmeldrum and we are confident that this new modern post office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.

She added: “This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”

The proposed move is designed to make it easier for customers to do business through longer opening hours and modern open plan environments.

The consultation will end on November 4.
