An Aberdeenshire vet is involved in a web project aimed at inspiring young Scots to find their career path.

Graeme Fowlie, from Meadows Vets in Oldmeldrum, is among hundreds of workers offering an insight into their job for Skills Development Scotland’s (SDS) award-winning careers information and advice web service My World of Work.

The films are part of the redeveloped My World of Work which launched on Tuesday with a new-look and a whole host of new features.

Graeme tells My World of Work he finds his job hugely rewarding, and offers advice to young people thinking about following in his career footsteps.

He said: “If you’re going to make it, you need to have an ability to remember enormous amounts of information, a remarkable amount of common sense and sometimes you need a fair bit of hand-eye coordination and physical skill to do surgical tasks for example.

“The important thing is that although you really like working with animals, you’ve also got to know you can work with people as well.”

A veterinary nurse from Meadows Vets also features on My World of Work alongside other North-east businesses.
