A MELDRUM hair and beauty spa has reopened following a relocation, and is using the space to offer clients an even wider range of services than before.

Platform One has opened in the town’s Station Road, after owner Melania Bain Walker moved the business from the Market Square premises she had occupied for eight and a half years.

The move has given Melania the opportunity to expand her range of services to include a beauty room, an exercise room, a ‘stand and tan’ area and a ‘pamper room’, which includes a hot tub and sauna.

“The move has been on the cards for about three and a half years now”, Melania said. “However, because it’s a listed building, we had to work very closely with the planning people in order to get the go ahead.

“We got planning permission in January and started building in April. Although the facade is the same, we’ve been able to enhance what was inside the building. It’s been a long time planning things in my head, but it’s all been worthwhile in the end!

“The new premises have been very popular so far”, she added. “It’s been all-go since we opened. One of the things I’m looking to do is to organise Corporate Days and events, as well as girly pamper days.

“One of the experiences we can organise is for clients to be collected in a limousine to come in for a pamper session. Afterwards, the limo will take you on to the ‘G’ Casino in Aberdeen where you can also get a meal - all the organising is taken care of for you.

“I’d like to thank everyone who helped us to get the premises up and running - all the workmen and contractors, and especially my dad! I’d also like to thank the clients who stayed with us through the upheaval, because without them, we wouldn’t be where we are now.”
