Independent bookshop Better Read in Ellon has given Alex Salmond a personalised copy of his book “The Dream Shall Never Die”.

Last month, the former First Minister held a book signing at the shop in the town’s Ythan Terrace with a queue of people stretching through the shop and out of the front door.

“The Dream Shall Never Die” provides a unique insight into the heart of the Yes campaign in the 100 days leading up to last year’s Scottish Independence referendum.

Mr Salmond said: “It was great to be able to hold a signing in such a fantastic local bookshop.

“I was delighted to receive a personalised copy of my book that had been recovered with a saltire flag on the front, tartan binding inside and beautiful decorated endsheets.

“The book represents the wealth of talent that is on offer at Better Read from book-binding to rare and antiquarian books and to first-class advice on what book to pick up next.”
