BALMEDIE’S Cock and Bull Restaurant has won best Gastropub at the Scottish Restaurant of the Year Awards.

The awards took place in Glasgow last Monday where more than 4,000 entries where whittled down to the winners.

Restaurant owner, and Peterhead Football Club chairman, Rodger Morrison, said he was delighted that The Cock & Bull beat off stiff competition to take home the gong.

He credited the award to a hard-working and friendly front-of-house team managed by James Forbes and a dedicated kitchen brigade supervised by head chef Michael Middleton.

Judges described the restaurant as ‘an atmospheric, intimate inn’ which prides itself on serving homest food with everything on the premises made from local ingredients. They continued: “With its cosy nooks and low-beamed ceiling, this well loved gastropub combines a friendly, casual ambience with delicious dishes such as the home-cured corned beef hash or the confit belly of Ingram’s pork served with a prune and Armagnac puree.”

The Scottish Restaurant Awards 2012 in association with Business7 took place in the Glasgow Science centre. These awards, now in their fifth year, acknowledge the outstanding creativity, customer service and top quality dining that is on offer throughout Scotland.
