Can you offer a loving home for pooch Bertie?

A five-year-old pooch is on the look out for a loving family.

North-east re-homing charity DAWGS are appealing to help find one of their dogs a new home.

Friendly Staffordshire Bull Terrier Bertie has been with the charity for months but is looking forward to spending time with a new family as soon as possible.

DAWGS chairman Ian Paterson said: “Bertie would make a loving family pet in the right home.

“We are looking for someone who is an experienced, confident dog owner who will continue Bertie’s training.

“Once a DAWGS dog, always a DAWGS dog - we would continue to offer any support needed for Bertie for the rest of his life.

“We always arrange meet and greet sessions too before a final decision is made so new families can spend time with Bertie before deciding if he is right for them.”

The charity has found homes for more than 3,000 dogs across the North-east since it was set up 20 years ago.

In his time with the charity Bertie has spent time with a special trainer where he has learnt walking to heel and other commands in the hope of making it easier to place him but so far no-one has come forward.
