Collieston and Slains SWI meeting

Collieston and Slains SWI began their October meeting with expressions of regret about the recent death of one of their former members, Mrs Annabel Adam, who had suffered a short illness and died in hospital.

Last month’s minutes were read and passed, and business items were discussed concerning arrangements for a trip to Inverurie panto, Ardallie SWI’s quiz night, an unscheduled Christmas meeting on December 7 and the deliberations at Ellon Group meeting about the Ellon springtime bulb show and a ceramic painting night.

Mark Macintosh, an auctioneer with Aberdeen and Northern Marts, told his life story amusingly. He now evaluates and sells livestock and antiques at marts and farm roups, and along with his father raises specialised breeds of sheep, cattle and ponies.

He and his stepdaughter then entertained with an agricultural knowledge quiz. Secretary Nora Harper gave the vote of thanks after she and Alison Allan had provided a tasty spread for everyone.

A ‘Soup and Pudding’ fundraiser is on Sunday, October 25, in Collieston Community Hall between 12 and 2.30pm. All welcome.
