Community growing area in Ellon still has spaces

Spaces are still available at a new community growing space in Ellon

It has recently received some funding and work carried out to upgrade and improve the area.

The plot, which is near the River Ythan, has room to grow some vegetables and has impreesive views of the Ythan.

The project came about following discussions between Aberdeenshire Council, Mental Health Aberdeen and Community Planning Partners due to the space being underused.

Anyone is welcome to use the area at no cost, however booking is required.

The space would accommodate a small group of young people or adults or just simply anyone interested in coming along to tend to some gardening/growing and taking some time to relax and enjoy the view.

Community planning officer Mark Mitchell said: “There has been a lot of interest in the space, but I think it will take time to get people using it on a regular

basis.”

Anyone interested in booking or helping out with basic maintenance should call in to Aberdeenshire Council Offices (Registrars Office) in Neil Ross Square in Ellon. They can also speak to Mr Mitchell on 01358 726406.
