A series of Community Ward Forums are to be held in Formartine over the next fortnight, in a bid to encourage public engagement in how future public services are shaped.
The Formartine Community Planning Group, which consists of public, voluntary and third sector organisations will be holding meetings in Oldmeldrum, Ellon and Turriff.
The forums are intended to give members of the community an opportunity to engage with agencies such as the police, NHS Grampian, Aberdeenshire Council, Grampian Fire and Rescue, Aberdeenshire Voluntary Network and Community Councils. They also allow for discussion on issues in local communities and are intended to ensure that a combined effort between communities and services can help alleviate some of the issues highlighted.
The forums, which are intended to be informal, involve discussions concerning community safety, recycling and the environment, health services and health improvement, jobs, careers, volunteering, training, community facilities and transport.
“We also want to encourage those who attend to think about what could be done to address some of the issues”, said Community Planning Officer Mark Mitchell. “We firmly believe that communities are vital in shaping the future and we need their ideas, skills and knowledge.”
Local Councillors and members of the Community Planning Group will also be in attendance and will give locals a chance to address any burning issues they may have.
Three events will be held in total, covering each of the council wards in the Formartine area. The Oldmeldrum meeting, covering Mid_Formartine, will take place on Thursday 1st March at 6.30pm in Meldrum Academy. The Ellon and District meeting will take place on Monday 5th March at 6.30pm in the Ythan Centre, Ellon. A third meeting will also take place in Turriff on 14 March.
Anyone interested in attending should contact Mark Mitchell on 01358 726406.
