An Ellon councillor has responded to complaints over roadworks carried out at the same time which resulted in delays for commuters.
South Road was closed for one week to allow for council roadworks but commuters endured further delays from roadworks taking place at the same time by BEAR Scotland on the A90 by-pass.
But it has emerged that neither organisations were aware of the other projects taking place.
Ellon and District Councillor Rob Merson has sought assurances that both firms would liaise closer together in future after receiving complaints from constituents.
He said: “The incident did illustrate a lack of co-ordination which could have had a more serious impact on the travelling public, had the works taken longer to complete.
“I was pleased to receive very positive responses from BEAR Scotland and the Council Roads Service, that the issue will be discussed at their next liaison meeting.”
Councillor Richard Thomson added: “I was pleased to hear that the Roads Service would in future ensure that BEAR Scotland are made aware of any roadworks within Ellon which could potentially increase traffic on the by-pass.”
