Attempted robbery at Station Rd McColls

POLICE are investigating after an attempted robbery early on Thursday morning at the RS McColl Shop on Ellon’s Station Road.

According to police, two men were interrupted in the act of attempting to break into the shop, which was left with a damaged front door. The attackers are understood to have fled the scene after being disturbed.

Police say that they are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen two men acting suspiciously in the area on the morning of the attempted robbery.

Three members of staff at the shop told the Times that company policy prevented them from speaking to the press. The staff member who disturbed the attackers was also unavailable for comment.

A spokesman for Grampian Police said: “The incident took place at around 4:55 am on Thursday, February 2 and police are keen to hear from anyone who saw two males acting suspiciously in the area around this time. It has yet to be established if any items were stolen during the incident.

“Grampian Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident or have any information as to who would be responsible to contact them on 0845 600 5 700 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.“
