An Ellon charity shop has received a rather unusual donation.
An RAF Pilots helmet was handed in to The British Red Cross shop before the New Year and volunteers are keen to find out how old the headgear dates back to.
Shop manager Elma Hay said that someone handed in the item, asking if it would be any use to the shop.
Elma told the Times: “We’re not sure how old it is, there is some writing inside it but I can’t make it out.
“There are no goggles with it, but we have had nothing like this in the shop before!”
The shop are keen to hear from anyone who might know how old the headgear is or if they are interested in purchasing it.
