Two members of staff from award winning Inverurie butchers Davidsons Specialist Butchers have scooped prestigious industry accolades.

At the recent 2015 Meat Skills Scotland competition held by the Scottish Federation of Meat Traders Association (SFMTA) in Perth, two rising stars of the company picked up top honours after beating off stiff competition in the contest to showcase their butchery skills using a range of joints including pork, lamb and beef.

Taking top spot in the Scottish Butcher of the Year category for entrants over the age of 22 was Davidsons Specialist Butchers’ General Manager Steven Cusack who, after joining the company as a butcher in 2007, is now responsible for training butchery apprentices and overseeing the company’s three outlets in Inverurie, Aberdeen city centre and within Dobbies, Aberdeen.

Meanwhile in the Young Scottish Butcher of the Year section for entrants under 22, Inverurie shop manager Lisa Finnigan led the way and brought the accolade back to Aberdeenshire. Lisa joined the Davidsons Specialist Butchers’ bakery department in 2009 and later went on to fulfil her ambition by becoming a fully qualified butcher.

Established in 2004, Davidsons Specialist Butchers is a multi award-winning family business.
