Dog trainer Myra celebrates 25 years

A local dog trainer celebrated hosting 25 years of classes last week - that’s 113 dog years!

Myra Stewart started the canine classes at Ellon’s Victoria Hall back in 1991 and has been a regular feature at the hall every Wednesday evening since.

To mark the special occasion, a Dog Party was held at the hall on Wednesday, May 4 complete with cakes for the humans and dog-friendly ice cream and biscuits for the pooches.

Speaking to the Times, Myra said: “I can’t believe it has been 25 years, time has just flown by.

“I am extremely lucky with the people who have come in to help with the classes and the people who come along with their dogs, I see the same people come back with their second or even third dogs through the years, some people come along just from word of mouth alone which is great.

“We will continue the classes and have no plans to stop.”

The training sessions help dogs to socialise with other dogs, while helping to create a bond with their owners.

The sessions are also non-profit and all money collected throughout the year is donated to charity.
