ON November 14, the Rotary club of Ellon was visited by Dragana Vidovic, a Rotary Peace Fellow from Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Each year up to 110 Rotary Peace Fellows are selected, to study at the six Rotary designated University centres. The objective of these centres is to promote national and international cooperation, peace and the successful resolution of conflict throughout their lives, in their careers and through service activities.
Dragana gave a moving insight into the war in the former Yugoslavia between 1992 and 1995 which she had lived through, and is part of the motivation behind becoming a peace scholar. She moved to Minnesota in 2002, where she was sponsored by Edina Rotary Club. She is interested in what are the motivational forces behind aggression, from bullying to war. Dragana told members she is stimulated by her experiences to serve the international community.
