Ellon Academy Creative Arts Award ceremony took place last Wednesday in the drama studio.

The aim is to recognise and celebrate pupil achievement within the school’s creative arts faculty.

There are a large number of extra-curricular arts activities including drama club, orchestra and concert bands, dance club, choirs, instrumental groups and a range of art and design activities, including “Art for the New School”.

The pupils receiving awards have shown commitment, enthusiasm and dedication within the extra-curricular groups.

These groups all meet at lunchtime or after school.

The awards are for those pupils in the senior school, with 87 of the S4, S5 and S6 pupils being presented with badges (bronze, silver or gold).

Mrs Fiona Cowan, whose late father Eric Slater was rector of Ellon Academy from 1971 to 1981, presented the awards.

She spoke encouragingly to the pupils, commending them on their achievements and wishing them every success in the future.
