A “wedding” with a difference was held in a small Aberdeenshire school.
Tia Eaton and Matthew McConnachie had their big day in front of other pupils from Newburgh Mathers School.
The four-year-old pupils and their nursery class have been involved in a project celebrating festivals and customs, including weddings.
To illustrate this, the class organised a wedding with Tia and Matthew keen to be bride and groom. Along with bridesmaids, a “minister” and “guests” from P1 the couple said “I do” last Friday.
Nursery teacher Karen Renwick said: “We have been doing a topic on fairytales which includes weddings, and it fits in well with curriculum for excellence and religious and moral education.
“The children have been very excited about it and the parents have been really supportive.”
After a small reception in the school hall the festivities ended with dancing to the Grand Old Duke of York.
