Gordon MP Malcolm Bruce has announced the results of his annual Christmas Card competition for children who attend schools in his constituency.
This year’s winning entry came from Hollie Cunningham of Braehead Primary School in Bridge of Don. As well as winning a £30 book gift card, Hollie’s artwork will be the picture on Mr Bruce’s Christmas card for this year, one of which will be sent to Prime Minister David Cameron.
Kiera MacDonald, a pupil at Kintore Primary School, won the second prize of a £20 book token. Joint third prizes went to Emily Philp of Ellon Primary and Rebekah Singer of Dyce Primary, who each received a £10 book token.
Speaking after the judging, Mr Bruce congratulated the winning pupils and praised the high standard of entries there had been for this year’s contest.
“As with the previous years, the standard of the entries was very high from schools across the constituency”, he said. “The judges all enjoyed the imaginative fun that the children had put into their pictures on the theme of “A Christmas Carol or Seasonal Song.
“I am delighted with the design of the winning entry and look forward to sending this out to more than 800 people this Christmas, including the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister.
“The winning entry is bright, colourful and the detail is beautifully drawn. The theme is “Walking in a winter Wonderland” showing two children walking in the foreground with a snowy scene behind.”
