Pupils at Port Erroll School have held a street party to mark the 70th anniversary of VE Day.

As part of the commemoration, the school met for an assembly where senior pupils read out facts they had learned about the day which marked the end of the Second World War.

ThenP5/6/7 pupils gathered in the school garden for their own street party. Earlier in the day, pupils had made fancy biscuits, corned beef sandwiches and jam for the event.

Some of the pupils also brought artefacts into school. In keeping with the World War II theme, the class also designed their own table cloths, flags and bunting for the special event.

Class teacher Mrs Brown said: “I’m delighted that the children have made such an effort to dress up. The children have really embraced the theme and been full of enthusiasm for the project.”
