PUPILS from Ellon and Meldrum Academies have reached the final of an S2 Technology Challenge Schools competition held at Banff and Buchan College.
They took part in the local heat of the contest which is aimed at building closer links between students pursuing technical qualifications, and potential employers.
Seven schools took part - Fraserburgh, Peterhead, Mintlaw, Ellon, Banff, Turriff and Oldmeldrum. The event was started nine years ago to mark the developing partnership between the college and engineering companies in Aberdeenshire.
Ellon finalists are Scott Godsman and Olivia Macleod, while Sam Wallace and Naomi Hazlerigg qualified for Meldrum Academy.
Curriculum leader Stevie Wilson said: “The Ellon Academy S2 group this year engaged well with the challenge. The staff have delvered another very successful event.
“The S2 year group at Meldrum embraced the challenge. The staff at Meldrum have been very supportive in delivery of the S2 Technology Challenge and other initiatives including Higher Plus and NC Plus.
“This gives more flexible and supportive options to pupils looking to choose engineering-related careers.”
The final will be at the main college campus in Fraserburgh in May.
