Ellon Academy Drama Club members have been working hard over the last six months to bring aniother exciting show to the stage of the Old Academy for a final time.
For three nights, June 30, July 1 and 2, the club will present one of the world’s best-loved family musicals, Annie.
It will be a poignant time for the school as it will be the last production before the move to the new academy in August.
The cast, around 70 in total, have been backed by a strong production team of pupils and staff who have helped enormously to create the costumes, props and advertising posters.
Musical director David Birse, who is the academy’s principal teacher of music, is delighted with the enthusiasm, hard work and dedication the pupils are displaying.
He said: “The youngsters, both the principal characters and chorus, are trying their very best to bring you a first-rate show. “They are singing, dancing and acting with great aplomb and are building up to what I’m certain will be a great opening night on June 30.”
In addition to the younger members of the cast, many of the older pupils are ‘veterans’ of many productions including last year’s show The Sound of Music, Shakespeare Festival and appearances in theatre groups outwith school.
Tickets have been selling well so the advice to the Ellon public is to buy soon to ensure you can this impressive show which is on Tuesday, June 30, Wednesday, July 1, and Thursday, July 2, in the Assembly Hall.
This follows on from the success of last year’s The Sound of Music.
Tickets are on sale from the office at Ellon Academy and J&K Shoes.
They cost £8 for an adult and £5 child/concession.
